Business Minded Interview with LORD PAYBACK

This week's feature is on LORD PAYBACK, a very business minded rap recording artist that's here to tell us more about his business, clothing line, give advice and more!  Read all about what he has to say and take note!

Business Minded:  How are you Lord Payback?
Lord Payback:  Another day filled with limitless opportunities and endless possibilities.....that means

Business Minded:  In a previous interview you revealed that you are an actual "Lord" and owning land in Europe, forgive us for  forgetting the exact location, however do you have any plans for the land and will it coincide with your plans as an artist?
Lord Payback:  Thats a bit exaggerated.  A friend of mine bought me a plot of land in Scotland where you are designated as a lord.  It is not worth big will not affect my music career.  It would be cool one day to visit it.

Business Minded:  Speaking of plans, what plans do you have for 2018 as an artist?
Lord Payback: I will be dropping my new single; I will not be revealing the title of it until the release date is set. I will continue to grow my "Payback" clothing line and put out another mixtape all in early 2018. You can check out my apparel and music at

Business Minded:  You have the Verbal Battery Vol. 2 mixtape out already, for those that haven't heard it yet, what can people expect to hear on this installment of the mixtape series?
Lord Payback:  The Verbal Battery mixtape series are aggressive and braggadocios.  I find some of the hottest industry beats mixed with original tracks and spit pure lava over them.  Most tracks and lyrics are violent by nature as you would expect from something entitled Verbal Battery.

Business Minded:  Nowadays in this industry artists have to wear many hats to become successful in the rap game, such as wearing the hat as a "businessman", would you consider yourself a businessman as well?
Lord Payback:  I am just as much a business man as an artist. I have my own record label entitled Prove A Point Records and publishing company Faith Filled Music. I have also secured a merchandising deal with Merch Direct for my apparel and a synchronization deal with Shelly Bay Music (had a song on the Movie Sisters under my former stage name).

Business Minded:  What is one of the best business moves you've made in your career ever?
Lord Payback:  Walking away from the associates I use to be around in the business. Even though big time deals were on the table none of it would have worked out in the long term. I would have had short term success and wound up with nothing.

Business Minded:  What would you say was one of your wises decisions in 2017 in terms of business?
Lord Payback:  Starting all over and rebranding my company.  It was an opportunity to wipe away the past and a second chance to do everything correctly.

Business Minded:  What advice would you give other artists coming into this business?
Lord Payback:  Be prepared to be ridiculed, mocked and any other word you can think of by people who are jealous of your talents. You will be told "No" countless times until you find that "yes". Have thick skin, stay positive and believe in your path and talents. The only thing stopping you is you. Right before your big break comes it will get harder....harder to the point that you feel like you can't take anymore.....see that as a positive....that's when you are very close. Put God first and enjoy the journey!!!

Business Minded:  What's the worst business move or set back you've experienced in your career and how did you bounce back from it, and what did you learn?
Lord Payback:  There were so worst decision I ever made was allowing stupid people to influence my decisions even though I knew they were full of shit. I didn't trust myself so I allowed them to take advantage of me.  I learned I am smarter than most people and to trust that feeling in my chest.  When something doesn't feel right it isn't right. It set me back but it was a blessing in disguise because it helped make me into the man I am today. I am smarter and tougher and now ready for the lords blessing to bestow upon my brow.

Business Minded:  What is your motto?
Lord Payback:  "Thou Shall Not Quit".

C.U.J.O. is about his Business!

Blazed Up Records -C.U.J.O. The Hell Husky From CT
Sean Davis (Born April 12 1988) known as S Dot Breez Dot to some, a.k.a. C.U.J.O. The Hell Husky, is a Hartford born graphic artist, portrait artists, song writer and dancer. The Husky has been drawing and writing killer rhymes since he attended Camren Arace Middle school in Bloomfield CT. His first love was drawing and was inspired by the great Walt Disney to draw and use his imagination. When he started rappping, the first steps were writing his hip hop verses in the corners of his drawings. Once a friend by the name of Rayshawn Thompson saw his lyrics on a drawing and read them, he told the young husky that you should try rapping.  With that notion he started to write his lyrics more abroad and showing them off in the lunchroom, art class, and talent shows. Also With heavy rhythm from poplocking with friends he started to put his rhymes to his dance movement which created a silent beat. The Husky then started to listen and study from the legendary acts such as Tech n9ne, Busta Rhymes , Michael Jackson and James Brown finding a new style with speed rap and energy. He started to hone in on his musical talents while also using his artistic abilities to create drawings that depicted what he was talking about in his songs.
As time went on the Husky went to Bloomfield high school and  focused more on dancing and drawing. While in high school the Husky took it upon himself to then start drawing portraits of the young girls to start gaining attention with the young girls. Shortly after, some of the young girls started to pay the young Husky to draw them. This then enlightened him because it was a way to make his own money and also display his talent. Going through high school, the Husky did find himself in some groups of friends that showed him the ways of the streets and make faster bigger money while camouflaging it with his artwork. While growing and learning he figured that the street life was too boring and repetitive and can lead to nothing but negativity. Upon graduation from high school, the Husky decided to go to Gibbs College in Farmington Connecticut. While attending College, the Husky landed the opportunity to have an internship with the Walt Disney Company. The college program showed him the magic behind the magic and also taught him how to market his own magic properly.
After graduating college in 2008 the Husky found himself only working regular jobs and wanting more. With that in mind he went with his cousin Javon Campbell to a in house studio and dropped a couple of vocals as a hype man for his first rap group called Trap Team.  After finding Trap Team they created songs and performed them at open mics with Lovie xl and also performing at the Webster Hall Theater in New York City. Even though these were small time shows people were recognizing the Husky from music videos and his social media networks displaying his new work with the group. While in the group he adopted the name S Dot Breez Dot that was cleverly thought up by his friend Mark Jones also known as Lens.

Sadly, the group did not make big enough moves to please the other group members so the Husky, once again show courage and ambition to become a solo artist. Going back to his inspiration from Tech N9ne, he saw that Tech was the number one independent rapper in the world. This gave the Husky a new idea to create his own label called Easty Entertainment. When creating the label, the Husky wanted to change his name that best suited him. One night at a family cookout his older cousin Stephanie said "I'm going to call you Cujo". The reasoning behind the name was because if she offered him a plate, even if he wasn't hungry he would still take it because it was offered to him. Hence the acronym C.U.J.O. His name stands for Cuz yoU Just Offered.
As of right now the Husky is in full blown motion to reach the top of the musical industry and to bring back money and new ways to get children off the street in CT.  As a new affiliate of Blazed Up Records, he is coming with a couple new songs like "Fire" and "Vicious in CT" feat. General P. This is only the start of a great journey for C.U.J.O. The Hell Husky from CT. So prepare yourself for the restart of real hip hop!!!

A Candid Interview With Author Brittany Lewis

Tell us about who you are and where you’re from.
I’m a Marine wife and mother of two young children. We currently live in North Carolina, but my husband and I are both originally from Massachusetts.

Did you always want to be an author and what inspired you?
I’ve been writing since I was in Middle School. I wrote my first book, a collection of poetry entitled Shine Through the Darkness, when I was in 7th and 8th grade. I published that book last year. I have always had a difficult time talking about my feelings, and I express myself better through writing.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Both. It depends on what I’m writing about. While I was writing Finding Freedom, the first novel in The Zion Series, writing usually exhausted me because I put so much emotion into that book.
Can you tell me a little about your writing process?
Sure! After I’ve thought of an idea for a novel I write out the general summary, usually only a paragraph. Then I expand it, making it three paragraphs. This gives me the summary of the entire plot, beginning, middle and end.
Since I write Young Adult, my books are usually between 40,000-60,000 words and normally have 20-25 chapters. I estimate that I want around 20 chapters in my book with each chapter being 2,000-3,000 words. After that, I break the chapter down into scenes. I only use a few words to summarize a scene and I do this in list format. This way if I know I’ll be somewhere where I’m waiting for something, I can jot down those few words on what the scene is about and write it while I’m out. I’ve actually written a lot of my work by texting it to myself while I’m out and then typing it later.
When I’ve gotten about half of my first draft done I send it out chapter by chapter to my first beta reader. She reads each chapter and makes corrections. After those corrections are made I send it to my editor. Then the third draft goes to another proofreader. I normally start writing another book the day after I finish my rough draft.

When do you write?
I’m a stay at home mom of two young kinds (seven and two) so right now I write whenever I have the time. I try to spend a total of 2-3 hours per week writing, sometimes more. Honestly, I spend the most of my time marketing.

Where do you write?
My desk is set up in the sitting area of our house, right next to the living room, so when I’m home I usually write there.

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?
Right now I am building connections. I’m currently working on a YA series and a children’s series.

Does your family support your career as a writer?
Yes and I am very thankful for that. Many authors don’t have family support.

What is your latest book about and are you working on anything new?
I am currently writing the third book in The Zion Series, Reunited, and I am actively pitching my children’s series to agents and publishers. My children’s series was created to help teach self-help and daily living skills to children with special needs and to help promote Autism awareness and acceptance. You can keep up with new releases by following me on Facebook: and on Twitter at

 Any advice for aspiring writers?
Learn to both accept and expect rejection. You will get a lot of rejections. Develop thick skin and keep going. Perseverance is the key to success.

Beyond The Nursery Rhymes: Real Life Tales by Elle McLin

Poetess/ writer Shantelle "Elle" McLin releases a book of poetry titled Beyond Nursery Rhymes: Real Life Tales.

Between the covers of this book, you will find a pilgrimage. For the author, ‘Elle’ McLin, in describing her past as a painful one, would be trite and dismissive. It is through enormous turmoil that she found herself; slowly healing, then breaking free of victimhood. She later awakens to new found hope. A victim of sexual abuse; the reality of her writing conveys to the reader, that the true assault was the violation of her soul. The aftermath was a skewed self-perception, which created a pattern of self-deprecation and bitter angst. This is a glimpse into the heart of a woman who became terrified of love, yet desired to be loved; a dichotomy. So skillfully written, Elle has masterfully conveyed her deepest, blood-raw emotions in this exquisite collection of prose. It will be an emotional journey you take with her, feeling each inference, innuendo, and breath. It is a tale of inner strength, fortification and a woman reinvented. The author has discovered self-love; the key was never outside of herself. A victory for this very brave, strong woman. Walk this pilgrimage with ‘Elle'. You will find seeds enough to plant within yourself! Powerful and evocative - not to be missed. Brenda-Lee Ranta – Author of Myriad of Perceptions & Allegories
